May 20 – 26 2019 is National Volunteer Week, a time to recognise those members of our community who give their time to make the world a better place.
This year is an extra special celebration, with 2019 marking 30 years of celebrating National Volunteer Week.
Volunteers across the country contribute to so many different organisations, causes and activities and we are truly privileged that so many choose to give their time so willingly.
We’ve been lucky enough to meet volunteers from a range of organisations, from Ronald McDonald House North Queensland to Smart Pups, and one thing that has united all volunteers is their generosity.
They give countless hours to ensure things run smoothly, never asking for anything in return.
The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week is ‘“Making a world of difference” and this truly captures the important role of volunteers; it’s hard to picture a world without them.
Many people say that they would love to volunteer, if only they could find the time.
For those that do find the time to volunteer, the rewards can include lifelong friendships, new skills and unique experiences.
To those who think that they may not have the time to volunteer, ask anyone who does and they will all say the same thing – make time.
It might just change your life.
